About
Welcome! Anne Wien Elementary School educates Preschool through 5th Grade students. We currently serve about 400 students.
Students receive a full range of academic opportunities including Alaska Native studies, English Language tutoring, RTI tutoring services in math and reading, Extended Learning Program, and a variety of Special Education programs. We also have two district-wide Special Education Intensive Resource classrooms and a Special Education Preschool classroom.
Anne Wien Elementary takes great pride in our school mascot, the river otter, selected and designed by our students. The river otter was chosen from a list of indigenous Alaskan animals as our school mascot.
Anne Wien students and staff believe in the following three Guidelines for Success:
At Anne Wien Elementary, we...
• Work hard
• Play fair
• Take care of each other
We are a Title 1 school, which is determined by the percentage of students that qualify for free and reduced-price school meals.
As one of eleven Title 1 schools in the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District, we receive additional federal funds for support in all core content areas. These funds help us to provide supplemental academic support for our students, additional professional development, and increase parental involvement opportunities.
If you would like to learn more about our Title 1 program and funds, please contact our school office at any time. We would love to have your input and ideas as we continually review our plan and create a program that will provide our students great academic success.
